Postdoctoral research at IIASA

International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) is an international research organization that conducts policy-oriented research into problems that are too large or too complex to be solved by a single country or academic discipline:

  • problems like climate change that have a global reach and can be resolved only by international cooperative action, or
  • problems of common concern to many countries that need to be addressed at the national level, such as energy security, population aging, and sustainable development.
Every year postdoctoral scholarships are available for research on topics related to the IIASA research agenda. Below the overview of the application procedure, the relevant links for the application form and the additional material upload can be found. An essential part of the application is the research plan outlining the intended work at IIASA and its relevance for IIASA's agenda. Candidates are required to develop and submit a research proposal that interfaces their own research interests with the research agenda of one of the various activities pursued at IIASA. It is highly recommend that applicants contact their potential scientific host(s) prior to submitting their application.
