One World Media Awards

One World Media is a non-profit organisation, registered in the UK as a charitable trust. We promote and support the media's contribution to international development, human rights and education, creating a global media community that shares our values.

The One World Media Awards recognise the best media coverage of the developing world.

The 13 categories cover all types of media, from television and radio to print and new media, while the ceremony is attended each year by key figures from the media industry, government, and international charities. Now in its 23rd year, the prestigious Awards have been described as "the awards the media really want to win".

For the 2011 Awards, we are pleased to introduce the Student Award, which will recognise the outstanding contributions made by the future generation of media professionals in the UK.

This year also sees a change in the Radio Award and Television Award categories, now open to any content about the developing world that is 30 minutes or less, including news reports and current affairs programmes. All documentaries of 30 minutes or over should now be entered under the Documentary Award category.

The Drama Award is now open to both radio and television dramas of at least 30 minutes in duration. The Press Award recognises the best print coverage of the developing world, including specialist pieces on topics such as sport, music, women's interest, food and health.
